Under recent legislative updates (October 2023), foreign nationals can secure a Real Estate Residence Permit by acquiring a property with a minimum valuation of $200,000 USD in any city in Turkey. This permit can be renewed annually or biennially as long as you maintain ownership of the asset.

What is the minimum property price for a residence permit?

As of October 16, 2023, the minimum property value required to obtain a real estate ownership residence permit is $200,000 USD (in Turkish Lira equivalent on the deed date) across all cities in Turkey. Prior purchases are subject to older thresholds.

Can I work in Turkey with a Residence Permit?

No. A standard residence permit (ikamet) does not authorize you to work in Turkey. To work legally, you must secure an official Work Permit (Çalışma İzni) from the Ministry of Labor, which can be sponsored by a Turkish employer or your own registered Turkish company.

Do I need private health insurance?
